Today’s Duke Appointment

Mom had an appointment at Duke today. The tumor and swelling were stable. The grade 3 portions of the tumor have shrunk since her last appointment (January). The MRI showed a new small spot about the size of a BB within the grade 2 portion of the tumor. Dr. D said that it could be scar tissue from the radiation or could be the grade 2 portion changing. Based on this change, Dr. D has decided to change the treatment plan. Rather than having 5 days of chemo followed by 23 days off, mom will have a much smaller dose of chemo everyday, similar to when she was on radiation. Mom will start the new chemo schedule on April 8th and will return to Duke for a checkup the first week of May.
